Northbridge Completes $214 Million Kiln Modernisation at Keystone Cement Plant, Lowering Clinker Energy Intensity by 18%
The rebuilt preheater-precalciner line raises annual clinker capacity to 2.35 million tons while cutting thermal energy per ton of clinker by 18% and enabling a 30% alternative-fuel substitution rate.
NAZARETH, Pa. — May 19, 2026
Northbridge Materials Corporation (NYSE: NBMC) has completed the modernisation of Line 2 at its Keystone cement plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, a $214 million project first announced in 2023.
The rebuilt five-stage preheater-precalciner increases the plant’s annual clinker capacity to 2.35 million tons from 1.86 million tons, reduces thermal energy consumption per ton of clinker by 18%, and allows alternative fuels to supply up to 30% of the kiln’s heat input.
“Keystone is now among the lowest-cost kiln lines in the Northeast, and it gets there while emitting less,” said Sofia Vitale, Senior Vice President, Cement and Ready-Mixed Concrete.
The project is expected to contribute approximately $34 million of annualised adjusted EBITDA beginning in 2027.
