KAT Fabricators Opens Chesapeake Distribution Terminal, Adding 3.2 Million Tons of Annual Throughput
The rail-and-barge terminal serves the Hampton Roads and Richmond markets and reduces truck miles per ton delivered by an estimated 22%.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. — May 6, 2025
KAT Fabricators (Listing: Not configured) has commenced operations at its Chesapeake, Virginia distribution terminal, a $67 million investment with 3.2 million tons of annual throughput capacity.
The facility receives aggregates by unit train from the Company’s Piedmont quarries and by barge from coastal sources, serving ready-mixed and asphalt customers across Hampton Roads and Richmond. KAT Fabricators estimates the terminal reduces truck miles per ton delivered into those markets by 22%.
